Dear Neighbours,

Thank you so much for being a past donor of the Richmond Food Bank Society.  Your generous contribution has helped us to serve an unprecedented number of people during these difficult times.

For almost 40 years, our Food Bank has been striving to provide healthy food to support those in need.  With the help of a small staff and a VERY strong volunteer force, our distribution warehouse is open six days a week.  We’ve also partnered up with over 27 community organizations to share any surplus food to broaden our reach and to provide food where and when it is needed most.  For those who cannot come to any of our distribution depots due to illness or disabilities, we provide a home delivery service.  Furthermore, since children in low-income households can be particularly vulnerable, we’ve supported school meal programs by delivering snacks and lunches in many of our elementary and secondary schools.

With the easing of COVID restrictions, it was hoped that the number of people we serve would lessen.  However, with the continued pandemic alongside high inflation, rising food prices, unemployment, increasing rents, and world upheaval, our service numbers continue to rise.  In 2021, we were serving approximately 1,700 Richmond residents each week.  Nowadays, we are almost at the 2,500 mark – a 47% increase!

As the need for service continues to rise, we are particularly grateful for donors such as yourself.  I encourage you  read about the many programs and services that we are able to provide through your donation and the significant  impact it has had on the people that were served in 2021.

On behalf of the Board, staff and volunteers of the Richmond Food Bank Society, thanks again for your generosity.  Please continue to support our vital work, so that together we can create a caring community that shares with our neighbours in need.

Warm Regards,

Carol Yan Lau

President
