The Richmond Food Bank Society’s privacy policy is based on and complies with BC’s Personal Information Protection Act. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our clients, donors, volunteers and employees with utmost respect and care.

In accordance with PIPA, we will inform our clients, donors, volunteers, and employees of why and how we collect, use and disclose their personal information, obtain their consent where required, and only handle their personal information in a manner that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in the circumstances.

In addition, we will ensure the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of the personal information received from our clients, donors, volunteers, and employees, and will allow them to request access to, and correction of, their personal information.

We will communicate the purposes for which personal information is being collected, either orally or in writing, before or at the time of collection, and we will only use or disclose personal information where necessary to fulfill the purposes identified at the time of collection

We keep all personally identifiable information private and do not sell, trade, or rent it to any third parties. Our website and online donation service is secured with SSL encryption.

We use personal information – information linked to an identifiable individual – to run our programs and initiatives. For example, we use names to track visits to see how many times someone visits the food bank in a month, and family/relationship information in order to register households together.

In addition, aggregate data – combined information like counts and averages that cannot identify or be linked to particular individuals – may be used for reporting, research, and advocacy purposes, such as in the annual HungerCount.

We use Link2Feed software to manage the data that is collected during client registration and at subsequent food bank visits. You can find out more about Link2Feed’s security features here.

This website may contain links to other websites that are independently owned and operated by other parties, and may have their own privacy policies.
