Thank You, Food Banks Canada!

Thanks to the generous support of Food Banks Canada’s Capacity Boost Grant, the Richmond Food Bank has been able to achieve some major milestones over the last couple months. We were honored to receive this grant in February, and we’re excited to share the progress we’ve made since then:

1. Welcoming Dominic, Our Food Distribution Coordinator

To help support our growing numbers, Dominic’s role included setting up the distribution area, managing client line-ups, and supporting volunteers during distribution. Additionally, Dominic runs our Wednesday depot at Church on Five, ensuring smooth logistics and efficient operations. His work has been instrumental in refining our distribution processes and ensuring that we can meet the increasing needs of our community with greater efficiency.

2. Upgrading Our Storage with New Food-Grade Bins

The addition of new food-grade bins have improved our food storage system. These bins provide additional storage and allow us to organize our supplies better than before. With this upgrade, we can ensure that the food we distribute is stored safely and in optimal conditions.

3. The Installation of Our New Sink

This new sink will further enhance our facility’s hygiene and food safety standards, ensuring we continue to uphold the highest standards in our food distribution efforts. While this project is still in progress, we look forward to its completion in the fall and the positive impact it will bring.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to Food Banks Canada for their incredible support. This grant has made a great difference, allowing us to build our capacity and make a more significant impact in our community!
