School-aged children make up 18% of the clients we serve at the Richmond Food Bank. During the summer months, many families with school-aged children who rely on our school meal and snack program, face uncertainty about their next meal. When schools are in session, we coordinate the distribution of school meals and snacks to elementary and secondary schools in Richmond. However, when schools close for the summer, these essential resources disappear, leaving many families struggling to provide enough food for their growing children.

At the Richmond Food Bank, we are committed to ensuring that every child has access to nutritious meals throughout the summer break. For every $1 donated, we can distribute $7 worth of food, and a donation of just $20 can provide a week’s worth of nutritious meals for a family of four.

Your support can make a huge difference in the lives of all the families we serve. Whether it’s a one-time donation or a monthly contribution, every dollar counts and helps us continue our mission of fighting food insecurity in our community.

Here’s how you can help:

  • Donate Now: Visit our CanadaHelps page to make a secure online contribution. Please write “Brighter Days, Fuller Plates” in the message section.
  • Spread the Word: Share our social media posts with your friends, family, and colleagues who may also wish to support this cause.
  • Create a Fundraiser: Host your own fundraiser to support this campaign. Whether it’s a bake sale, a virtual food drive, or a birthday fundraiser, your initiative can make a big impact.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of our younger generation. Your generosity will ensure that this summer is filled with hope and healthy meals for those who need it most. Thank you for your generous support this summer.
