Thank you UBC Boathouse and Dragon Boat BC

A big thank you to the staff at John M.S. Lecky UBC Boathouse for offering the RFB team a boat to practice for the Steveston Dragon Boat Festival.
About 20 paddlers including RFB staff, volunteers, friends and family gathered at the UBC boathouse every Thursday evening for the last couple of months to practice for the annual Steveston Dragon Boat Festival that was held on August 22nd 2015 in Steveston.
The Steveston Dragon Boat Festival is an annual event held at Steveston Village, Richmond BC and is situated from the Britannia Heritage Shipyard (at Westwater Drive and Railway Avenue) to Imperial Landing. It is a popular event and draws huge crowds year after year for a day filled with food vendors, live entertainment and of course the dragon boat races.
We are also grateful to Dragon Boat BC for choosing the Richmond Food Bank as it’s sponsored charity for the Steveston Dragon Boat Festival. We were able to collect over 100 pounds of non-perishable food items in addition to the monetary donations that allows us to purchase our most needed items and serve our neighbours in need.
