Warehouse Coordinator

The Richmond Food Bank is looking for a dynamic, outgoing, caring, and compassionate individual to join our team as a Warehouse Coordinator.

About the Richmond Food Bank Society

The Richmond Food Bank Society supports food security and nourishment needed to sustain health and well-being. Each week our volunteers offer an array of fresh produce and other grocery items to over 2,000 community individuals in need. We also support a School Meal program to address hunger among students, Home Delivery program, and Information services to connect people in need with community resources.

The Richmond Food Bank is also a sharing hub for food and supplies to community meals, shelters, and other social service agencies that serve low-income and marginalized people in our city.

Start Date: As soon as possible

Terms: Full Time 35 Hours/week (9am-1pm Saturday-Sunday, 9am-6pm Monday-Wednesday)

Salary: $24.50/hr

Job Summary

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Warehouse Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating remote depot operations and donation pickups from grocery stores and businesses on weekends and holidays. In the warehouse, the Warehouse Coordinator will be receiving and processing donations, which involves forklift operation and using manual and electric pallet-jacks. A solid understanding of inventory management and general warehouse operations will be a strong asset in this role. This role also requires hands-on volunteer support and task supervision in preparing for and during distributions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive van to remote depot locations
  • Provides assistance to clients and supervise volunteers
  • Take inventory at off-site depot locations
  • Pick up food donations from grocery stores and businesses
  • Receive, weigh, record, unload and put away incoming products into inventory
  • Inspect inbound food donations for quality, quantity, damages or safety
  • Help manage outbound waste stream when needed
  • Loading and unloading of vehicles
  • Complete required pre-shift inspections on all industrial equipment
  • Keep warehouse organized and ensure a safe working environment
  • Provide coverage for program and/or distribution staff as needed

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid Forklift Operator Training certification
  • Class 5 License with clean driving record
  • 2+ years of experience driving 3-ton vehicle or comparable
  • Experience using forklifts and electric pallet-jacks in warehouse facility
  • Knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office Suite and databases
  • A recent Food Safe Level 1 is an asset

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to walk and stand for extended periods
  • Bending and lifting boxes up to 50lbs on a regular basis
  • Exposure to ambient temperatures and noisy conditions
