DSC01844A Christmas message from Sheila Johnston, Richmond Food Bank President:

Your donations, gifts, and volunteer hours are essential to providing reliable year-round service as we receive no public funding. With your support, our volunteers give grocery assistance to 1350 to 1450 people in a week. During our distributions we also offer Nutritious Recipe Demonstrations, Play & Learn for preschool children and their parents, Ageless Volunteerism that partners teens with seniors, and our Information Table and Wellness Centre where qualified volunteers, student nurses, and visiting service agencies connect people in need with community resources.

In November we added two grocery depots, resulting in six weekly distribution times in four locations across the city. The Richmond Food Bank is also a receiving hub, distributing food and supplies to community meals, shelters, a drop-in centre, and other agencies that serve low-income families and refugees – extending our reach to more people needing help through a rough time.

Best wishes to all for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
