How You Can Help- Donate Perishable Food

The Richmond Food Bank is very grateful for your donations of fresh fruits and vegetables, unopened meat and dairy products, and other unopened perishable food.

DSC00954We work hard to provide healthy, nutritionally balanced grocery assistance to the people we serve, and fresh fruits and vegetables are an important part of the grocery assistance we offer.  We rely on donations from farmers, NPOs, people, and wholesale companies for the fresh produce we provide.

Here is some information on how you can donate fresh produce to us:

  • If you have a small amount of fresh produce that you’d like to donate, please drop off your donation during office hours.  Our Contact Us page has details on our office hours.
  • If you would like to donate a large amount of fresh produce (more than 3-4 boxes), we can possibly pick up depending on a number of factors.  Please Contact Us and we will see if we can pick up your donation.
  • If you are a farmer and would like to donate your fresh produce to us, you may be eligible for a charitable tax receipt.  Please Contact Us for more information.  You may also be eligible for the BC Farmers’ Food Donation Tax credit.  Please visit this website or speak to your accountant for more details.
  • If your household has fresh produce that you need picked to donate to us, the Richmond Food Security Society has a Fruit Gleaning service.  The Richmond Food Security Society can pick your fruit and will donate it to us.  Please contact the Richmond Food Security Society for more details on their fruit gleaning service and on how you can access it.

We are delighted to provide a charitable tax receipt for monetary donations of $20 or more.  If you wish to make a monetary donation online, please click here to Donate Now.  If you wish to make a donation by mail, in person, or over the phone, please Contact Us to find out how.
